ANC To Host Duo Strazzullo in Concert, Presented By The Arts Council

BLYTHEVILLE, AR - The Arts Council of Mississippi County is pleased to announce a very special event to be presented in the Adams/Vines Building at Arkansas Northeastern College on Saturday, December 28, 2019. A special Holiday Open House will be held in the Lobby of Adams/Vines beginning at 6:00 PM, and it will be followed at 7:00 PM by a concert of Piano and Violin duets in the Recital Hall. Arts Council Patrons and Sponsors as well as advance ticket holders will be welcome for both events.


The concert will feature a brother and sister who are both natives of Italy. Violinist Giorgiana Strazzullo graduated from the “Domenico Cimarosa” Conservatory of Avellino, Italy, in 2009. She specialized in Cremona (W. Stauffer Academy), Paris (ProQuartet Academy), Weikersheim (Jeunesses Musical Deutschland), Imola (Accademia Pianistca Internazionale), and at the Scuola di Musica di Fiesole in Florence, where she was awarded the prestigious scholarship “Alimondo Ciampi.”


Giorgiana founded the Mitja String Quartet in 2008. She performed in many Music Festivals, including the Associazione Alessandro Scarlatti in Naples, Italy, Festival dei 2 Mondi in Spoleto, and Accademia Filarmonica Romana. Giorgiana performs regularly alongside internationally renowned artists such as Giovanni Sollima, Robert Lehrbaumer, and Philippe Berrod.


In 2011 the American director Francis Ford Coppola selected the Quartet for a concert in his estate at Palazzo Margherita in Bernalda. In the audience were also George Lucas and Sofia Ford Coppola. In 2016 she won the Rotary Club International EMF Young Musician Award and 1st prize at the “Jacopo Napoli” European Competition. Giorgiana collaborated with Tactus, Warner Music, and Amadeus recording labels.


Since 2013 she teaches violin at the “Giuseppe Verdi” Academy of Naples. Giorgiana founded the “Arco Magico” teaching method in 2015 and toured the Sultanate of Oman holding Numerous Concerts and Seminars in collaboration with Arabesque International under the patronage of the Italian Embassy of Muscat. She currently plays a Postiglione Violin kindly granted by the Piero Farulli Association.

Gianluca Strazzullo, has been awarded throughout Italy and much of Europe as an outstanding pianist. He is also recognized in this part of the world, where he has studied at Arkansas State University for a Masters of Music in Piano Pedagogy and Performance, and has recently completed his Doctorate in Piano Performance and Conducting at The University of Memphis. Numerous concert appearances include solo and chamber works in Austria, Czech Republic, Germany, Italy and North America.

Duo Strazzullo will present a program of works for Piano and Violin by composers such as Mozart and Beethoven. These performers are masters of their instruments, both technically as well as musically. They will allow the audience to experience some of the world’s most moving melodies with an artistry seldom witnessed in this area.

Ticket prices are $20.00 Advance and $25.00 at the door. Children 12 and under will be admitted free with an adult.
